Bi-Annual Checkup

car maintenance and repairAs mentioned many times, exactly what jobs need to be done when depends on both the manufacturer’s service recommendations and how you drive. For example, a Ford Taurus is scheduled for new spark plugs at 30,000 miles on one model and 100,000 miles (platinum plugs) on another. However, if you only put 6,000 miles on the car a year, consider changing plugs every two years instead of waiting five years when you have 30,000 miles on the odometer.

Typical two-year/30,000 mile service means:

  • Replacing spark plugs

  • Inspecting, adjusting, and maybe replacing belts

  • Replacing Coolant

  • Replacing transmission fluid and filter, if any

Let’s take a look at them, step by step.
