Online Help

It is amazing how much car care and repair help you can find on the Internet. If you’re not already “online,” ask a friend to help you try it out. Or visit a larger library—and plan to wait in line to use a computer. Hey, there are even web cafes where you can rent time on a computer while you sip cappuccinos.

What’s the big deal? The Internet is a network that lets computers talk with each other over telephone lines. They share information and even images using a language called HTML for hypertext markup language. As your computer’s browser software connects to the Internet it will read and display HTML files.

For example, all major car manufacturers, most parts resellers, and many parts manufacturers have world wide web (www) or “web” sites. Connecting to them you can find out about the latest models, find a factory-authorized dealer, find parts resources, and more. You can even get questions answered by experts such as Click and Clack, the Tappet Brothers, of radio-fame at CarTalk.com. Also visit CarCare.org, AllDataDIY.com, and Autopedia.com. Of course, bookmark DontKnowCars.com for future reference.
