Climate Control Basics

car maintenance and repairYour car’s heating system will use excess engine heat to warm the car’s interior. The air conditioning system will use excess power (driven by a belt) to cool everyone inside.

Heating and air conditioning systems rely on controls to turn components on and off. Controls may be on-off switches or complex temperature measurements with set points and relays. Fortunately, most are designed to be relatively trouble-free. Unfortunately, they can be a real challenge to troubleshoot and repair. However, learning how they work and staying on top of periodic maintenance can keep them running—and you comfortable—longer.
